Beautiful singing water foreground, mottled with reflections of trees and wonderful vernacular houses built on waterfront background.  Steps down to landing place right, with rowing boats, patch of blue sky top left from which the water takes its clear tone.

Brangwyn described the village as: ‘a narrow inlet from the sea, widening into a large bay, with the deepest and bluest of water, surrounded with picturesque stone-built houses, once owned by the flower of Guipposcoan nobility, but now tenanted by fishermen’ (The Studio, Vol1, p74, Brangwyn, ‘Letters from Artists to Artists – Spain’)
