EXHIBITIONS

Some very interesting exhibitions coming up this year, all with a slightly different twist so all highly recommended.

Drawn to Danger, Charnwood Museum, Loughborough, 12 February - 23 March 2014 and the Library and Museum, Market Harborough, early August - October 2014.

A highly relevant exhibition featuring Brangwyn's posters alongside the work of contemporary artists 'embedded' with troops in Afghanistan and elsewhere.

Brangwyn's War: Posters of the First World War, The Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate, 17 May 2014 - 18 January 2015.

A history of the Great War featuring some of Brangwyn's best known posters together with sketches, studies, photographs and books illustrated by the artist.

Libby Horner will be giving a talk about Brangwyn's War at the Gallery on Thursday 29 May at 2pm.

Help is Better than Sympathy, William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow, 24 May - 14 September 2014.

The title taken from Brangwyn's poster for Belgian refugees, the exhibition deals with the lives of said refugees through Brangwyn's paintings and illustrations.
